... Rev T. Williams... Creswick Hospital Rev T. Williams Lindsay family Rev. Thomas ...Rev. Thomas Williams was grandfather of the Lindsay children. He is credited with encouraging his grandchildren in their artistic talents. Both Lionel and Normam learnt their model making skills from him. Creswick Hospital was foundation stone was laid in 1863. It operated as a hospital until 1911 when it was sold to the government as part of the School of Forestry (now University of Melbourne). The model shows it as a red brick building. In the 1870s it was painted as a white building. The Museum has b/w photos of the building taken prior to rendering. The people of Creswick collected fund for the project and obtained a government grant. The 1857 survey map of the proposed township shows the area at Eastern Hills reserved for a hospital and Benevolent SocietyThe model's unique association with the Lindsay Artist of Creswick. The programme is for the Victorian Methodist Centenary 1935-36 Thanksgiving Meeting which was held at the Melbourne Town Hall on Wednesday, 2nd October, 1935 at 7.30 pm. Speakers were the President of the Conference and Rev J W Grove, Rev T C Rentoul, Mr J W Kitto and Rev R Williams. The address was given by Rev Professor A E Albiston, Secretary General.Pale green paper with green text and image of John Wesley. Attached inside is a pink slip of paper for a donation to the Centenary Thanksgiving Fund. The Civic Centenary Thanksgiving Service was held at Holy Trinity Church, Port Melbourne on Sunday 10th July 1960 at 7pm. It was attended by His Worship the Mayor, and the Mayoress, Cr. L.S. TURNER and Mrs TURNER. Councillors who attended included Town Clerk, Mr A.T. AANENSEN, the City Engineer Mr. G.S. WILLIAMS and the City Electrical Engineer Mr J.T. ANDERSON and their ladies. The address was given by the Rev Lawrence E. The P.W.M.U. was formed in May 1914, during the ministry of the Rev. Ben Williams. Mrs Williams presided at the first meeting. The object of the Union is to further the work of missions at home and abroad. t is responsible for mission work in china, Korea, New Hebrides, and deaconess work in the city.. Parcels of food are sent away from time to time. Last year the member made four quilts for the Babies’ Home. The Union has sustained severe losses in the departure from the district of Mrs I Robinson and Mrs E. Jessie Barrie: and Mrs Cameron was called to higher service on July 28th, 1947. The first President appointed was Mrs Atkin, Miss Macdonald, acted at Secretary of the Union for 22 years. For all the women who recognise the need of mission work for Christ, this Union is a wonderful opportunity for service. Postcard original Congregational Church Scallan St. Stawell with picket fence and double gateway. Postcard No 21. The church in this photograph was built in 1874 and opened on Sunday September 13th. The Rev. S.C. Kent, of Melbourne was the Preacher. The building was intended to accommodate 250 people. The cost, exclusive of the land was 800 pounds. The building was designed and supervised by Rev J.G. Wilson. The Church was the first to be lit with gas in Stawell. Note gas light on the porch. This building is now used by the Lutheran Church.One post card of a church with 3 enlarged photos of the post card. The image is the Congregational Church in Stawell.
